EuroMedia Research Conference 2021

We are honored & excited to share that our research on media portrayals and foster care has reached the international stage via the 2021 EuroMedia International Academic Forum (IAFOR) Conference. Our workshop "Contributions of Media Consumption, Media Type, and Media Genre to Polarizing Perceptions of Foster and Adoptive Care" is available to view online.

What is the International Academic Forum?

"Founded in 2009, The International Academic Forum (IAFOR) is a politically independent non-partisan and non-profit interdisciplinary think tank, conference organiser and publisher dedicated to encouraging interdisciplinary discussion, facilitating intercultural awareness and promoting international exchange, principally through educational interaction and academic research.

What is the IAFOR Conference?

"Since its founding in 2009, IAFOR has brought people and ideas together in a variety of events and platforms to promote and celebrate interdisciplinary study, and underline its importance...

Held in partnership with University College London (UCL), Birkbeck, University of London and the University of Sussex, this international conference encourages academics and scholars to meet and exchange ideas and views in a forum stimulating respectful dialogue, by bringing together university scholars working in the UK, Europe, and beyond to share ideas and research." Representing Our Roots

Resilience is a longstanding touchstone of the foster care experience; it is also this year's IAFOR conference theme due to the challenges and changes brought about globally amid the on-going pandemic.

"Resilience is the ability to resist being affected, or to recover readily from setback and adversity, and the past year has been one of enormous turbulence and upheaval. Nobody has been left untouched by the impact of the global pandemic, and great change has been forced upon us all." (https://euromedia.iafor.org
